Love is not Love ...

http://thepeartreeblog.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/paulo-medeiros-xi.jpg

As my dad is still in the intenstive care unit in hospital we are only allowed short visits.  So in between seeing dad we sit and sip thee or coffee and talk.

I know my dad is a man of action instead of many words.  But I must say I was quite astounded when my mum told me that in all the time they have known each other (over 60 years) he has never once told her he loves her!  We all know he does because we can see it by the way he behaves, by the way he treats her and looks after her.  And even though they have been married well over 50 years not once did she hear him say ... I love you.

Are you a man or woman of action?  Do you tell people you love them?  Or do they have to guess you do by your behaviour?

Life is so short, don't waste it by pride, or fear, or bashfulness or whatever reason that is stopping you.

Let me share with you one of my all time Shakespeare sonnets - nr 116

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

William Shakespeare
(1564 - 1616)
